And new M50d variant due here before the end of the year

BMW has lightly upgraded the X6 Sport Activity Coupe for the new model year and, as we reported previously, the range will be joined by the M50d 'M Performance Automobiles' variant — the first of the hot-shoe diesels to reach our shores.
According to BMW Australia, the mildly facelifted X6 is due here around the end of May or early June. The importer is yet to reveal pricing for the new M50d variant and nor is there any word as to whether the pricing of the other variants will change at all.
For the cosmetic upgrade, BMW has opted for matt-finish bezels in the upper section of the outboard air intakes in the front airdam. The fog lights are located in the outer corners of the new bezels and are accordingly mounted higher than before. BMW claims that the relocation of the fog lights lends the car a wider, more imposing stance.
The revised X6 can also be identified by the new-look kidney grille, featuring prominent vertical bars that are angled inwards at the base. Also accentuating the car's width, the grille bar angle is flush with the horizontal line formed by the base of the headlights. Buyers will be able to choose the extra-cost option of adaptive LED headlights once the vehicles arrive in Australian dealerships. These light units will be standard for the X6 M50d and X6 M.
LED tail lights have also been restyled for the new model year and, in keeping with the car's frontal treatment, are designed to enhance the perception of width. 19-inch alloy wheels fitted as standard are now a new paired-spoke design for the xDrive50i variant. BMW is also set to introduce a 20-inch wheel in a two-tone Y-spoke design, as an option. As a further option, BMW will offer buyers a powerdome bonnet for every variant. And the X6 will also be available, at extra cost, with the M Sport Plus package, comprising 20-inch M double-spoke design alloy wheels in two-tone finish, adaptive LED headlights, BMW Individual Shadow Line, black surrounds for fog lights and M door sill covers. Inside, the M Sport Plus pack incorporates electrically-adjustable sports seats with memory, exclusive Alcantara/Nappa leather combination with contrast stitching, M leather steering wheel with shift paddles, stainless steel pedals, 'Aluminium Flywheel' interior strips in black and BMW Individual anthracite headlining.
Exterior colours across the range will comprise two solid and eight metallic paints, among them Marrakech Brown metallic, Orion Silver metallic and Midnight Blue metallic. A new colour available for the standard Nevada leather trim is Vermilion Red. There are also two new choices of colour — Black, Ivory White — for the Nappa leather option.
