The Fiesta came to Australia in 2004 with the reputation of being a Euro hatch able to come out fighting in the light car class. It's certainly up to the task, with three and five-door variants and the choice of two engines -- a 1.6-litre 74kW/146Nm DOHC 16-valve four-cylinder and a 2.0-litre 110kW/190Nm four in the XR4 version. Transmissions are a five-speed manual or a four-speed auto. The Fiesta is generally more small-car than light car in its overall feel, although the back seat is compromised with four large adults aboard. Zetec versions add ABS, 16-inch alloys and sports suspension above LX.
