As Holden's Rodeo adopted a new name without really changing, so too has Ford's Courier. The new-look Ford is now the Ranger, embracing cab-chassis and ute configurations, with two and four-door bodies including dual and extended cabs. Four-cylinder turbodiesel power is the only way to go, with a 105kW/320 2.5-litre, or a 115kW/380Nm 3.0-litre driving five-speed manual or four-speed auto transmissions. Payloads are a big thing; All Rangers now exceed one tonne, extending to as much as 1.4 tonnes in cab-chassis two-door 3.0-litre configuration. Dual airbags, limited-slip differentials and air-conditioning are standard across the range, with ABS and 16-inch alloys appearing in XLT versions.
