The R51 Nissan Pathfinder took a few steps up from its predecessor with its all-independent suspension, seats for seven passengers and the long, long-awaited turbodiesel - a 126kW/403Nm two-litre, with a 198kW/385Nm 4.0-litre V6 the petrol option. Transmissions are six-speed manual or five-speed auto. The Pathfinder - a nice interim step between Patrol and X-Trail - is a different animal to its predecessor. The part-time 4WD system uses a two-speed transfer case allowing proper off-road abilities. The Ti Pathfinder adds front side and full-length curtain airbags, sunroof, leather trim, rear air-conditioning and heated and powered front seats.
