Nissan's Tiida was developed along more utilitarian lines than its Pulsar predecessor to provide a large interior, plus levels of quality commensurate with other small-car contenders. The result is a small sedan with proportions not immediately embraced by most - although once inside, passengers discover what the Tiida is all about. No one offers more impressive rear-seat space and the general air of quality is quite apparent. The 1.8-litre DOHC four-cylinder produces 93kW and 174Nm, driving through a slick six-speed manual or a four-speed auto. All come with dual front airbags, ABS, air-conditioning and four-speaker CD audio; autos get cruise control.
