The S40 scores by having smooth-performing five-cylinder Volvo engines across the lineup, along with design cues like the floating centre console that help make it something special. The standard 2.4-litre S engine develops 125kW/230Nm and drives through manual or auto five-speed transmissions. Standard on all S40s are: six airbags, traction control, ABS, alloy wheels, automatic climate control, cruise control, trip computer and six-speaker CD audio.
