The Persona sedan introduced here in mid 2008 is a compelling alternative to Proton's Gen 2 hatch without the flexible load-carrying benefits. Running the same 1.6-litre 82kW/148Nm twin-cam engine as the Gen 2, the Persona also offers the choice of five-speed manual or four-speed auto transmission. But the big thing is that, despite very competitive pricing, the Persona also brings ABS and park-distance control into the picture, as well as 15-inch alloys as standard. The rest of the gear is pretty predictable: air-conditioning, central locking, trip computer and four-speaker CD audio.
